Scenic Guilin to host China's cross-country motorcycle tournament final
GUILIN, South China, Sep. 1 ,2008(Xinhua) -- The world famous senic spot of Guilin in southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region will host the national cross-country motorcycle tournament final, the first time for Guangxi to hold such a sport event.
Sheng Yongping, general manager of Jinlong International racing car Co., said the six-leg motorcycle tournament are co-sponsored by Jinlong, Car and Motorcycle Sports Management Center of State Sport General Administration and China Motorcycle Association.
The first leg began in suburb of Beijing on May 17 with more than 100 racers from 16 teams attending. Guilin is the sixth leg, or the grand final.
This year's tournament differs from previous ones in grouping, racing regulations and participating racing teams.
Professional group of 250cc has been cancelled while teenager group of home-made 110cc is added. The rest three groups comprising professional group of 80cc and 125cc and group of home-made 150 cc remain unchanged.
In addition, the tournament regulates: racers for professional group of 80cc must be under the age 16 and those for teenager group of 110cc should not be older than 13.
