New Chinese middleweights set for UK market By Visordown News 09/09/2008 An all-new 600cc, four cylinder motor will power three different motorcycles next year Three OF China's biggest motorcycle builders have teamed up to make the country's first modular 600cc sportsbike that will go on sale in Europe. Loncin, Zongshen and Jialing have joined forces to create an all-new 600cc, four cylinder motor that will power three different motorcycles next year. The bikes are being directly targeted against current Japanese and European motorcycles in what is believed to be the first serious attack on the sportsbike market by Chinese motorcycle makers. Not only are the manufacturers joining forces, they are each taking separate parts of the motorcycles in-house for further development. So one firm is working on the fuel-injection system for all three, another is sorting out suspension and the third is making and refining brakes and instruments. Late 2009 is being fixed as when we'll get our first real look at the bikes, expect prices to be around the 6,000 Euros mark.

Butch, We're being send these photo quite a while ago and all 3 bikes are designed by the same Studio in europe.
We're currently working with Loncin on some matters and they'd inform us that they have plans for the Big engine but only in a 650 mono and will power their Quad from end 09 instead of a bike like abv. also we don't think this is going to happen as Jialing already have their 650 mono YoYo, and Zongshen also have their inhouse development on theor big engines, there must be quite a few manufactures that are currently developing big engine to go on big bikes, there are already 450cc mono cylinder engines on MX bikes...
Don't think China Factories will start develop multi cylinder engines yet as they will have a good market on the mono cylinder bike like the BMW F650 instead.

hi guys,mighty interesting development
you mention the BMW F650, by that do you mean the JiaLing 650 (an obvious copy of the BMW F650) ? I test drove one in Beijing, where they are getting more & more common, the engine on the bike I drove was real rough sounding, lots of mechanical noise, but the bike looks like it might eventually be something to work with
another interesting bike, from the LouYang, LouJia Motor Co, (in Henan Province) is the Highlander 950 cc , V-twin, the numbers on it look very respectable, weight 160 kg's, 85 h.p.,
have you heard anything about it ?

The BMW 650 is different then the Jialing YoYo, Loncin in Chongqing is building the F650 enignes for BMW , so they must be good enough for BMW to accept their production. The Yoyo still have some problem with the engines as its not as easy to built a big Mono as many of the China factory thinks. We have also seen quite a few now in many places in China and some has used this to add Side cars. The enigne produces quite a bit less HP then EU/Japan engines of the same spec, but the cikes are cheap to buy and legal to run.
I have met the chief engineer of Swedish Highland at the Italian Bike show last year, and they do have a few big cc engines and bikes under development and I think the MX bike is already out.

Hi Butch, Dont thin kthey're selling in China yet, but was told that they're homologating. Basically, alot of these China factories wasn't looking at the China market as of now, as the Export market is alot bigger for these big bikes and their Homologation standards are alot less rediculous then the China one, so what is the point tryong to bang your head against the wall and try to sell Motorcycles in China that will not be bought by the Farmers as they ahve no use for this and the ?City Folks can't ride them in the City.
Honda has send quite a few of their top model bkes for CCC (china's Homologation) in the past couple of years and none has past the test !!!
I'll find out if they sell these bikes in China for you.
Coming to SH tomm night, as we need to do some logistic support for the Red Bull Team over the weekend. wil call and meet for a drink
