G'day chaps, finally found a pair of Öhlins fronts (FG43) and a rear shock (HO 347) in Shanghai. I can walk out with them for 18,000RMB, they are from the late 2004 prodcution line and first got installed in mid 2005. This to say, the are 2.5 years old and need an oil change!
My question is: do you know anyone who is experienced with Öhlins shocks absobers who could help me out to change the oil? Getting the Öhlins oil is another problem for me (import restrictions etc) so if you know anyone who could help me out in Shanghai, that would be excellent
/F.

Fred, BG Performance is the official Ohlins Distributor / Tech centre for the Greater china region of HK/Macau/China so we can service your Ohlins products.
However, be aware that since your Ohlins products were not purchased from BG, we cannot service your forks and shock under warranty.
We will have to charge for the service and oil or other parts that need to be replaced. Also, note that your shock needs to be charged with nitrogen after the oil has been changed.
We can service your forks in Shanghai as we have the tools. However, we can only do the shock in Zhuhai as it requires special service tools.
The forks can be done in a couple of days at our Shanghai shop, however the shock will have to be sent to Zhuhai and it may take 2 weeks for service.

Hi, Fred, Your 2nd hand Ohlins front is the older version, if we order the new Forks, then it will be the latest 08 new design !!! Can you confirm that you'll need both the Ohlins R&T Forks and also the Rear Shocks Also, if you need these only for the track without any pillion, then give us your weight so we order the items with the correct weight springs for you.

Unfair, I plan to mount this onto my race bike winter project therefore use 08's design in 09 I'm being promise a few half-days acesses to the Jiading track in spring/summer 2009 so yep, if I have to go for a 320km/hrs min required suspension, I'll need both forks and shock. R&T sounds awrite but not best (we're crazy enough but not yet rich sadly!). Will certainly let you know as soon as I'm ready to crack on for this order. Looking around mid-november if my second hands deal fails next weekend (as I expect anyway, mike has details)

Fred, When you say you can get access to the F1 track, can u let us know how you can do this I think the only time we can use the F1 track is that the March3 Formula Team in SIC has been organizing track days and rent the track by the session. so far the rental are far too high for bikes, so we have not been able to use the track, but if you have other ways of getting the use of the track, please let us know, Thanks Steven

Lucky me this time I guess. A colleague at my office deals directly with a SIC senior on motorsport issues. She passed me the contact who I've spoke to only recently. Results, I've been told that we(superbikes) are surely welcome for track trials. Apparently this means that we could use the track after 'some' events... few are half-day booked I'm being told. That said if we do not want to rent the track 'officially'. Also, similar to the Tianma situation, it could be possible to use SIC on last-minute's cancellation (which is very rare I've been sadly informed). And unfortunately, no mention about session, price or schedule (yet).
Now this must be what they say to everyone however, I've been kindly offered to go visit any days next week which I accepted on-the-spot (we agreed on Thursday). I'm going mainly to understand more about how things works with SIC, Shanghai & motorsport and exchange a few contacts there. I'm meeting with one of their DGM if anyone is asking. That'll be a start only

Fred, it does sound too good to be true when you 1st deal with these people at SIC... not to pour cold water over your head... BG is the 2nd Racing Outfit that set up base at SIC in early 2005 before the 1st Motogp, FRD (Formula Renault) is the 1st team that base there during the 04 F1 race and is a full partner of SIC. BG has been the 2 wheel partner for SIC since 2005 and every year we organize and promote their Motogp Supporting races and Bikers Carnivals and we'd spend a lot of money in SIC and finally we move out at the end of 07 as we can't see there is any hope to do anything in there as they change their managment many times and everyone only wanted money... FRD finally pull out of SIC this year also as they took over the running of the BJ track as there is also hard to operate in SIC. There is a new operator in SIC now call MARCH3 and they'd spend alot of money in SIC but due to these people have big investors so they can afford to keep spending ... Whatever they'd told you on the phone or in person, I'd been promised many times over and over and till today, nothing has materialized !!! Renting the SIC track cost RMB 250,000/day and even when we're the base team there, it was RMB200,000/day.. they will not rent you part hrs in the track unless you're a partner of them, but even then, it was RMB 15,000/30 mins... These are all OLD 2008 rates, and in 2009, they'll increase their rates !!! if you can get them to open the track for you to use like what they say they'll, then I'll say its a miracle !!! I'd been dealing with all the people at SIC from their MD all the way to the lowly toilet cleaners, if you send me a email telling me who you're going to meet, then maybe I can save you the time and effort to make the trip to SIC...

Now this didn't sound good... makes me feel helpless I neither believe in miracle and it will rain bucket tmrw so I may well skip my unplanned visit... thanks for your intro and the tips Fak man 250k/day is not what I was expecting at all. Guess we need to start looking for 25 racers with 10k to spend on a not2hot sunny day. Likely? I may be introduced to a dgm or the sales team instead let's see! Will for sure post any solid info if anything ever comes out positive. For info, I've once had the chance to discuss with SIC's key players about motorsports and its form of immaturity in China (generally). They concluded however that motorsports was on the good -track-. My opinion, BG is certainly not loosing its time and should keep up the excellent work. The barriers at SIC are to be taken up to the Chinese associations & regulators maybe... there is clearly room for improvements on that side if BG alone has to do it all on its own. Q: who funds the Chinese Motor Sports Association? I'm just being currious........

Fred, Many of us have tried and none had succeed, Trust us that quite a few of us have the connection and inroads to deal with them, but remember SIC is Gov't own and run by Gov't people that only cares about whether their dept is in the red or not !!! No one dares to offer special deals as they'll got the stick from other dept... its all politics in there !!! Don't even tried the Chinese Motorsport Federations as SIC and the Federation is 2 totally different Gov't own operations and none will support the other... you don't really want to escape from the lion's cage and jump into the Dragon's Den !!!! Hahahah, both Kareem and I will be in SH Thur next week, you want to know more, lets meet for a coffee
